Biomethane decree signed by Italian government

The Italian government signed on 9 December a decree finally allowing biomethane’s injection into the grid and its use as a transport fuel. Piero Gattoni, President of the Italian Biogas Association, together with the Presidents of NGV Italy and Assogasmetano underlined that the decree enables important economic and environmental development: 2.5 billion m3 biomethane can be produced for the transport sector helping to replace imported biofuels. The decree will help to unleash the biomethane potential in the country that is one of the biggest biogas producers in the world and has a highly developed natural gas network.
