Michael Chesshire graduated in engineering from Cambridge University in England, and has worked in anaerobic digestion since 1975: first with Farmgas which pioneered pre-fabricated sewage sludge digestion technology; second with Greenfinch which pioneered food waste AD in the 1990’s; third with Evergreen Gas which built small-scale on-farm plug-flow digesters. He is now a design consultant.
He is a Visiting Professor at the University of Southampton and Chair of the Policy Board of the UK Renewable Energy Association.
He has a community food waste AD plant at home, where biogas is produced for cooking, district heating and the production of vehicle fuel.
